After dealing with infertility for 10 years my husband I were finally able to conceive TWINS through ivf! During my anatomy ultrasound at 18 weeks I was told that my son Ronnie had several complex congenital Heart defects. My boys were born February 6th 2016. Ronnie's official diagnosis is criss cross heart, DORV with pulmonary atresia, and a VSD. Ronnie had his first open heart surgery at 4 days old to place a BT shunt. His "big repair" surgery (Senning Rastelli)was done in August 2016. It was a tough recovery that led to an eventual 3rd open heart surgery. In October 2017 it was discovered that Ronnies right ventricle outflow conduit was severely narrowed. Luckily, his awesome care team was able to place two stents via heart cath through the groin. This will hopefully buy him a few years until his eventual 4th open heart surgery.
As hard as everything has been, I realize that I am one of the lucky ones. I get to know, hold, and love my son. So many parents lose their children to CHD. 1 IN EVERY 100 CHILDREN ARE BORN WITH CHD! Please help donate for research and charity.
